Politely informing us of their current parental status via their Facebook page (that none of them are actually dad's as far as they know), Galway's NewDad have revealed an accomplished new single in 'Blue'. Their fourth of 2020 so far, 'Blue' blends washed out guitars with melodic bass guitar and lightly played acoustic beats that elevate with the inclusion of gentle metallic strokes on the ride cymbal in the chorus. Channelling tiny nuances of alternative 90s acts from My Bloody Valentine to Mazzy Star, the laid-back vocals on 'Blue' exhale comfortably over the atmospheric instrumental backdrop. Delivering the painfully relatable lines on more than one occasion, "While you took your time you wasted mine, I said I wanted you, you said you felt too blue. While you were making up your mind I lost mine", 'Blue' is the lo-fi break up anthem we didn't know we needed to hear. -Holly Mullineaux
